An established London-based financial institution is looking for a skilled Credit Risk Analyst to join its growing Risk Management team. This is a newly created position reporting to the Chief Risk Officer and will play a key role in shaping the organisation's 2nd Line of Defence credit risk oversight.

This is a great opportunity for a professional with solid credit risk experience - particularly in credit risk and trade finance - to work in a collaborative environment where your insights and contributions will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess credit applications, perform detailed financial analysis, and evaluate sector, environmental and business risks.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor credit exposures and customer covenants, maintaining an active credit watchlist.
  • Provide timely and robust credit recommendations and monthly reporting for the Credit Risk Committee.
  • Collaborate closely with the Front Office (1st Line of Defence), Legal, Finance, and Operational Risk teams.
  • Attend Credit Committee meetings, take accurate minutes, and follow up on action points.
  • Support enterprise-wide risk initiatives and contribute to the development of internal control frameworks.
  • Uphold Consumer Duty principles, ensuring customer fairness and good value.

Candidate Profile:

  • 5 years plus experience in credit risk, with strong exposure to trade finance and ideally the African markets.
  • Sound understanding of structured and traditional trade finance instruments.
  • Skilled in credit analysis, legal documentation review, and internal stakeholder management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident in engaging with senior management.
