Chief Financial Officer | Series A Climate Tech Start-Up | London/Hybrid
We're exclusively partnering with one of the UK's most exciting climate tech scale-ups to appoint a commercially driven CFO ahead of their Series B fundraise.
With a first-in-market product preparing to enter manufacturing and commercial contracts already in motion, the company is on a mission to accelerate industrial decarbonisation. Backed by highly credible and mission-aligned investors, they've built a strong foundation and are now entering a critical period of scale-up.
The Role
The incoming CFO will take full ownership of the company's financial strategy, leading their Series B, shaping commercial models, and acting as a thought partner to the CEO as they bring their first product to market.
This is a rare opportunity to join a purpose-driven team working at the forefront of climate innovation. You'll be the central financial voice in the business, representing the company to investors, aligning strategy with long-term capital plans, and helping to guide the company through an exciting growth phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and structure the upcoming Series B fundraise
- Design and manage blended finance strategies (equity, debt, project finance)
- Act as the key financial partner to the CEO, owning strategic modelling and scenario planning
- Collaborate with the Commercial Manager on pricing, long-term contract strategy and revenue planning
- Build out financial infrastructure: reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and risk controls
- Oversee and mentor the Finance Manager and manage external finance providers
- Represent the business to current and prospective investors, supporting board engagement and stakeholder management
- Drive governance, compliance and financial best practices as the company scales
Experience (Essential)
- Significant experience raising capital, ideally leading or supporting Series B or later-stage fundraises
- Experience in Climate Tech, Agri Tech or Hardware/Software companies
- Deep understanding of finance in a fast-growth, impact-led environment, with prior experience of scaling a company
- Hands-on, strategic and commercially astute, you've built and led high-performing finance teams
- Gravitas and clarity in investor and board discussions
- Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, opportunity-led, and resilient
Experience (Desired)
- Experience with carbon markets or decarbonisation business models preferred
- Able to connect macroeconomic thinking with company-level planning
Salary: £175,000 base salary + generous equity package
Location: London, hybrid working (c.3 days in office, with flexibility)
