Deputy Head of FinanceLocation: LondonContract: Fixed-Term (12 Months)  Rate: £57,000 per annum     Start Date: ASAP*Hybrid Working – 2 days per week in office* Contact: .ukJob DescriptionService Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a charity in London for a Deputy Head of Finance to join the team on a 12 month FTC. The postholder will lead on payroll delivery, support the production of management accounts, maintain cash flow, and line manage the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a candidate with a strong financial background and excellent team leadership skills.Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries and liaise with external payroll providers.
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll systems and internal controls.
  • Produce first-draft monthly management accounts with full balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
  • Maintain and update forward-looking cash flow forecasts.
  • Support the preparation of year-end management and statutory accounts.
  • Work closely with the Head of Finance to provide timely and accurate financial reporting to Budget Holders.
  • Manage, support, and develop the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant through supervision and appraisal.
  • Contribute to delivering a 5-star service across the organisation.
CandidateCriteria
  • CCAB Qualified Accountant with extensive experience
  • Strong financial background with experience of leading a team
  • Experience of management accounts and balance sheet and P&L reconciliations
  • Experience of contributing to year-end and statutory accounts
  • Great communication skills with the ability to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team
