Harper May is partnering with a dynamic and fast-growing venture capital firm who is seeking a Finance Director to lead financial operations and support the next stage of strategic growth. With an expanding portfolio of high-potential investments, the firm requires a commercially focused finance leader to ensure robust financial management and support fund performance.

Role Overview:As Finance Director, you will be responsible for managing the financial infrastructure of the firm, overseeing fund and corporate accounting, and providing strategic financial insight to the leadership team. You will play a critical role in supporting fundraising activities, regulatory compliance, and investment analysis, while ensuring operational excellence across the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial management, including fund accounting, portfolio reporting, and corporate finance activities

  • Lead preparation of financial reports for investors, partners, and regulatory bodies

  • Manage cash flow, capital calls, distributions, and investment tracking across multiple funds

  • Support the fundraising process, including data room management, due diligence, and financial modelling

  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning for the firm

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and tax frameworks, including FCA requirements

  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and fund administrators to manage external reporting obligations

  • Build and lead a small finance team, ensuring scalability and operational excellence as the business grows

  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to provide commercial insights and drive strategic initiatives

Key Requirements:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with strong post-qualified experience

  • Previous experience within venture capital, private equity, or asset management is highly desirable

  • Strong technical accounting background, ideally with experience in fund structures and investor reporting

  • Commercially minded with the ability to influence strategy and support investment decisions

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proactive and hands-on approach, capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
