Finance Manager - TV Production

Leading documentary series', factual entertainment, and current affairs independent TV production company are looking for a strong Finance Manager to be key member of the central finance team, a role that will be accountable for the overall financial hygiene and HMRC compliance across the group on behalf of the owners of the business.

The role will report in to the Commercial Finance Director and work alongside the Production Accountant(s) in post commensurate with the business' slate.

Responsibilities:

  • Treasury management: Monthly consolidation of a group cashflow forecasting based on committed productions. Clearing down daily unreconciled bank transactions.
  • Maintenance of the Xero accounts ledger for the group companies
  • Oversee the month-end close of: Production Cost Manager reporting, recoveries and recharge posting flows, AP, AR ledgers and B/S and bank reconciliations.
  • Posting Management Accounts monthly adjustments for: production revenue recognition, overhead prepayments and royalty accruals.
  • Owns monthly TB close out and review for all group companies including the presentation of monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cashflow statements.
  • Payroll management: The business has a payroll partner who process payslips, payments and HMRC filings nonetheless the role will be the inhouse payroll lead.
  • Pension and Health Insurance administration for the group, including adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • VAT compliance for the Brinkworth Group: Quarterly review, submission and payment of VAT returns across the group, including reconciliation to the Government Gateway HMRC records.
  • Rights and royalty reporting tracking, sales invoicing and credit control.
  • Central overheads monthly purchase ledger payment run
  • Administration of pre-paid debit cards - Equals - including transactions exported into each project on a monthly basis
  • General duties: Raising sales invoices, posting purchase invoice, journal entries, B/S reconciliations, Bank reconciliations, raising bank payments.
  • Production accounting support: Maintenance and reconciliation to Xero of cost monitors, monthly payment runs, raising sales invoices in Xero for project funding, maintenance of petty cash floats, create production cashflow forecasts against agreed project budgets, setting up new supplier accounts, liaising with suppliers and production teams for any queries.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified or actively working towards accountancy qualification (ACCA/AAT/CIMA)
  • Comfortable at the sharp end of transaction processing
  • Knowledge and understanding of HMRC regulations, including payroll related compliance
  • A candidate who is: responsible, discrete and process orientated
  • Strong academic results
  • TV and or film experience
  • Knowledge of XERO
