A leading UK-based think tank is seeking a highly organised and motivated Finance Manager to join its operations team.

In this key role, you'll work closely with the Director of Finance and Resources and take responsibility for a broad range of financial activities, including:

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing the day-to-day accounting function using Sage 50 (transitioning to Sage Intacct)
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements
  • Leading the payroll process and acting as the point of contact for payroll queries
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns and managing other statutory reporting
  • Supporting the external audit process and liaising with auditors
  • Reconciling bank accounts, control accounts, and balance sheets
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring strong financial controls
  • Supporting budget holders with financial information and forecasting
  • Monitoring cash flow and preparing cash forecasts
  • Assisting with the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes
  • Contributing to strategic finance projects and business planning activities

Key requirements:

  • UK accountancy qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong bookkeeping and financial reporting skills
  • Experience managing finances in a small organisation
  • Familiarity with Sage 50 and cloud-based accounting systems
  • Confident using Excel for financial analysis and reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and a proactive approach
