Ready to step into a high-impact leadership role where you can shape the future of a high-performing team? If yes, this could be the role for you!

We’re working exclusively with a well-regarded and recognisable national charity to recruit a Head of Finance – a pivotal role at the heart of a finance team supporting a medium-sized organisation. This is more than just managing numbers – it’s about leading a well-established team, partnering with senior leadership, and helping steer the organisation through a period of growth and opportunity.

The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:

  • Leading and developing a capable team of qualified professionals, including Finance Business Partners and a strong transactional function
  • Preparing high-quality consolidated annual accounts from trial balance through to final draft
  • Owning the management accounts commentary – offering clear, strategic insight tailored to different audiences.
  • Supporting the Finance Director across strategic and operational finance, including drafting board papers, attending board and committee meetings in their absence, and contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing the consolidation of budgeting and forecasting from a team of embedded Finance Business Partners.
  • Ensuring best practice across internal controls, financial processes, and systems – driving efficiency and improvements where needed.

This is a rare opportunity to lead in a truly values-driven, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will inherit a stable, high-performing team and an incredibly supportive senior manager who champions autonomy, trust, and accountability. You’ll have a blank sheet of paper to improve processes, mould your team, and influence strategic direction – with the full backing of leadership. The organisation is mission-led and impactful, with strong staff retention and a reputation for quality. This is a Head of Finance role you can make your own.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Fully qualified as an accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) – exceptional QBE candidates may also be considered.
  • Strong experience in both management and financial accounting.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Collaborative and solutions-focused, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ideally a background working in the charity sector.
  • A good sense of humour and genuine team spirit will go a long way here!
