We are seeking a School Business Manger to serve as the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring financial stability, supporting strategic growth, and maintaining compliance. This role supports the Chief Financial Officer and is crucial in upholding financial integrity across the trust. Along with Business Manager duties including HR, Estates and Facilities

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Financial Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, complying with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks to protect the trust against potential financial threats.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards, such as UK GAAP.
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee the finance team and implement robust financial systems to ensure smooth and efficient financial operations.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed financial reports to senior management, offering insights into the financial health of the trust.
  • Management: Assist in managing the finance team and collaborate on developing annual budgets and long-term strategies.
  • Finance Procedures and Compliance: Maintain robust financial systems, ensure accurate financial transactions, and manage compliance with financial procedures.
  • Internal and External Audit: Act as the key contact for audits, overseeing the implementation of recommendations and managing annual audits and statutory reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in an Academy
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial compliance, and risk management. .HCSS and Access Finance essential Finance  essential
  • Excellent leadership abilities to oversee the finance department.
  • Experience in creating and presenting financial reports to senior management.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Relevant qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  • Compliance and safeguarding will be completed to an enhanced level for the successful candidate including an Enhanced DBS clearance
