A London-based charity working at the forefront of international peace mediation is seeking a Senior Finance and Operations Officer to provide maternity cover from early summer 2025. This is a rare opportunity to support critical work in some of the world's most complex conflict settings, by ensuring the smooth running of their finance and operations functions. Working closely with the Head of Finance and the Operations Director, this role requires someone highly organised, personable, and confident in handling charity finance. With well-established systems and a structured handover in place, they are looking for someone who can hit the ground running. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading monthly financial processing in Sage 50, including multi-currency bookkeeping and expense reconciliation
- Compiling and monitoring project budgets and donor reports (e.g. USAID, FCDO, ECHO)
- Supporting the development of management accounts and assisting with grant audits
- Contributing to operations tasks including HR admin, office systems, and occasional logistics support
- Supporting continuous improvement of finance systems and compliance processes
They are looking for someone with:
- At least 2 years' experience in charity finance and operations
- Strong Excel skills and experience with Sage 50 and/or ExpenseIn (or similar systems)
- Experience supporting donor-funded projects
- Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, collaborative approach
This is a hands-on, varied role ideal for someone who thrives in a small, mission-driven team and enjoys combining financial rigour with day-to-day collaboration. Start date: Late May or early June preferred, with a 3-week handover planned.Working pattern: Full-time, with two days per week in the London office (Tues & Weds).
