Are you a passionate and dedicated professional looking to make a difference in public safety? Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Public Protection Officer to join their dynamic team on a temporary contract for 3 months! With an hourly rate ranging from £40.00 PAYE or £54.14 Umbrella, this is an exciting opportunity to utilise your skills in a meaningful way.

About the Role:

As a Public Protection Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive food hygiene and standards inspection programme. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating complaints related to food and health & safety matters.
  • Assisting in health & safety at work initiatives and accident investigations.
  • Conducting inspections for infectious disease control.
  • Providing expert comments on licencing and planning applications.
  • Participating in event consultations.

In this regulatory position, you will ensure compliance with the Council's enforcement policy, providing guidance, responding to complaints, and serving notices when necessary. Your role may also involve attending court and hearings to present evidence and lead prosecutions.

About You:

We are looking for a self-motivated team player who excels in customer service and possesses strong technical knowledge. You should be:

  • Flexible in your approach, willing to support colleagues as needed.
  • Proficient in IT systems, including MS Office and case management systems.
  • Prepared to manage a multi-disciplined enforcement caseload effectively.
  • Competent under the Food Law Code of practise, with experience inspecting high-risk food businesses.
  • Knowledgeable in enforcing the Health & Safety at Work Act and related regulations.

Qualifications:

  • A suitable qualification as outlined in the Food Law Code of practise.
  • Post-qualification experience in food hygiene and health & safety.
  • Ability to provide a copy of your competency framework and current CPD upon request.
