Quality Assurance Manager – Reed Food & FMCG

Reed Food & FMCG are currently partnering with a growing Food Business in North London, who are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to oversee the implementation of food safety and quality procedures in their factory, ensuring compliance with the BRC Global Standard. This role involves managing a team of Quality Control and Quality Assurance Auditors and reporting to the Group Technical Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on maintaining high standards of product quality and operational excellence.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the HACCP team, manage site plans, and ensure timely implementation of food safety measures.
  • Conduct daily product taste panels and manage non-compliant product releases with clearance from designated personnel.
  • Oversee factory complaint investigations and develop actions to improve performance based on collated data.
  • Implement product control procedures such as recall procedures and ensure adherence to quality specifications.
  • Provide technical advice and customer information in line with company procedures.
  • Drive operational standards for food safety and quality in the factory, including control of pre-requisite systems like housekeeping, hygiene, and pest control.
  • Manage and conduct internal audits, ensuring the site maintains grade A BRC accreditation.
  • Facilitate product recalls/withdrawals and manage traceability challenge testing.
  • Provide key performance reports and support business development through contributions to the food safety strategy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Manager in the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC Global Standard, and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing a team of Quality Control and Quality Assurance Auditors.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective quality control and safety programs.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess quality performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders.
