Overview:

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join a highly regarded Histopathology Team within a prestigious private healthcare setting. Based in London, a leading independent hospital located in the heart of London's medical district, this role offers outstanding career progression, a competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake routine histology procedures including embedding, microtomy, special staining, immunohistochemistry, biopsy and small tissue processing, frozen sections, and cytology (Gynae and Non-Gynae).

  • Support the senior biomedical scientists with day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring the highest scientific standards are maintained.

  • Participate in internal and external quality assurance processes.

  • Operate and maintain a range of laboratory equipment following full training and competency assessment.

  • Assist with stock management and contribute to method development and evaluation of new equipment.

  • Adhere to laboratory policies, procedures, and UKAS accreditation standards.

  • Rotate across different histology workstations, including Mohs micrographic technique (if trained).

Requirements:
  • HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist (Histology discipline).

  • Proven post-registration experience within a UKAS-accredited histopathology laboratory.

  • Strong technical skills across all routine histology tasks: embedding, microtomy, staining techniques, immunohistochemistry, frozen sections, and specimen handling.

  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and patient data handling.

  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering the highest quality service.

Working Hours & Contract Duration:
  • Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

  • Initially core hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM), moving to a 24/7 rota once competencies are signed off.

  • Initial contract duration of 3 months, with strong potential for extension based on performance and service needs.
