Job Title: Director of Fundraising, Policy & Communications

Location: Hybrid with the requirement to attend our Head Office (Vauxhall)
Salary: £90,550 per annum
Contract type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5

This is an extraordinary opportunity to join Refuge’s executive team and lead transformative change at a pivotal moment of renewal and ambition. As Director of Fundraising, Policy and Communications, you’ll shape the public face of one of the UK’s most vital organisations working to end domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.

Working hand-in-hand with our inspiring new CEO and a passionate Board, you’ll provide strategic leadership across fundraising, communications, marketing, digital, policy and public affairs – guiding a talented, mission-driven team of 40 professionals and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence.

At the heart of this role is developing and delivering a bold new income generation strategy, spanning voluntary and commercial sources to ensure the long-term sustainability of Refuge’s life-saving services. Insight-led campaigns and appeals will drive unrestricted income and public mobilisation, while a strengthened brand and digital presence will reach more people, more powerfully – from supporters and donors to decision-makers in government.

Alongside income and engagement, you’ll lead our policy and public affairs agenda – developing evidence-based positions, influencing legislation, and holding government to account. Survivor voices and lived experience shape every aspect of this work to help shift public understanding and championing stronger protections for women and their children.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role plays a central part in setting organisational strategy, ensuring Refuge continues to grow its reach, deepen its impact, and remain a leading voice in the movement to end domestic abuse.
