Are you a practical, hands-on individual with a passion for design and technology?A secondary school in Newham is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to support its vibrant DT department from September 2025.

The Role:

As a DT Technician, you'll play a key part in helping deliver engaging and safe practical lessons across a range of design subjects, including Product Design, Engineering, and possibly Food Technology. You'll be responsible for preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a smooth, safe, and inspiring learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, set up, and maintain tools, materials, and machinery for practical DT lessons

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times

  • Assist teaching staff and support students during practical sessions

  • Maintain stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory

  • Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery and tools

What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a school or workshop environment

  • Practical knowledge of using and maintaining DT tools and machinery

  • Strong understanding of health & safety practices (COSHH, CLEAPSS knowledge desirable)

  • Organised, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team

  • A background in design, engineering, or a related technical field is a plus
