We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Housekeeper/Cook to support a warm and busy family of five in London. The role is based in a spacious and well-maintained six-bedroom home, where the family pride themselves on being tidy, organised, and welcoming. An organised and efficient self-starter, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and organisation of the household and preparing healthy dinners and the occasional snack for the family.
Working alongside a full-time nanny who primarily cares for the children (aged 11, 9, and 1) and a part-time cleaner who comes in twice a week to assist with deep cleaning tasks, the day-to-day housekeeping responsibilities include tidying, laundry, ironing, and changing bed linens, as well ordering groceries and household supplies. The role will also involve light childcare support, including occasional school pick-ups and assisting with babysitting during school holidays.
A competent and confident cook, you will prepare varied, healthy family-style dinners for the family on a daily basis they enjoy a range of different cuisines, including Mediterranean and Middle Eastern.
We are seeking someone with proven experience in both housekeeping and cooking, who is organised, self-motivated, and able to take initiative. A bubbly, positive personality is essential, as the family are looking for someone who fits in well with their household and can confidently manage their duties with minimal supervision.
Working 7 hours per day from Monday to Friday, the family is looking for a candidate who is able to work from 8am-3pm to ensure the smooth running of the household. As part of the role, you will be required to travel abroad with the family during some school holidays, usually for about 1-3 weeks at a time, so flexibility to travel is essential.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
General daily housekeeping (tidying, laundry, ironing, changing bedsheets)
Preparing healthy, family-style dinners and snacks
Meal planning and ordering groceries
Receiving and unpacking groceries
Dealing with tradesmen and contractors
Light assistance with childcare when required
Liaising with the nanny and cleaner to ensure smooth household operations
Travel to the familys home in the south of France during some school breaks
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Proven experience as a housekeeper and cook in a private household
Intermediate cooking skills with an understanding of family nutrition
Experience with childcare and working in a family environment
Excellent time management and organisational skills
High attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, well-run home
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Friendly, positive, and professional demeanour
Fluent in English & legal right to work in the UK
Based within a commutable distance from SW London
Willingness and ability to travel as part of the role
DBS check or a willingness to obtain one
