Finance Assistant | Fast-Growth Music Scale Up | London/Hybrid

Harmonic are delighted to be working once again with one of the most prominent and exciting fast growth businesses in the Music Industry, in their search for a Group Financial Controller to join their consistently growing team. This is the second newly created role in the finance function over the last 12 months, illustrating this exciting new period for the business.

The company is associated with some of the world's biggest superstars and frequently feature in Music industry publications. They have interests in both publishing and recorded music and have been building a 'best in class' team since inception. There is a great family feel to the working environment where everyone is deeply passionate about the company and the industry.

With an SLT in place with huge levels of experience in the industry, the company is extremely well-funded and have exciting plans in the future to continue scaling. They are currently on a growth trajectory whereby they will continue to expand, which will mean some great opportunities to progress.

The Role

Reporting to a Group Financial Controller, you'd be responsible for supporting the day to day financial operations of the business. This includes but isn't limited to accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, double entry bookkeeping, making payment runs, posting journals, and providing ad hoc support as needed. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to the plans to grow the finance team, as the business begins the process of insourcing and developing their internal function.

There are great opportunities to gain exposure to the month-end and management accounts process and great progression opportunities; the plan is for this hire to grow into a Management Accountant position. As you'd be working in a small financial operations team of 3, you'll have great visibility to senior members of the business, gain hands-on experience in more complex accounting processes, and tailored learning opportunities. While study support isn't initially offered, the business is happy to provide this following dedicated service and integration into the team.

The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified or have exemptions towards ACCA/CIMA qualifications from an accountancy degree in uni. The client is looking for 2-3 years' experience in an accounting role, with a strong foundation in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Additionally, they're looking for someone who is driven, switched-on, enthusiastic, and ready to contribute tangible value to an exciting and growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records
  • Manage AP/AR, process day-to-day finance transactions, across all accounts
  • Reconcile credit card transactions, perform bank reconciliation
  • Work closely with royalties teams to ensure all information is correct
  • Prepare and reconcile VAT returns and intercompany balances
  • Posting journals and payment runs, contribute to month and quarterly end processes
  • Contribute to process implementation as the business insources their accounting function
  • Liaise with banking partners on account setup and documentation
  • Serve as point of contact for the finance and accounting team
  • Support the wider team with business administration tasks
  • Ad hoc responsibilities to support the wider business

What We Need to See (Essential)

  • 1-2 years experience in AP/AR with exposure to double-entry bookkeeping
  • A passion for the music and creative industries!

What We'd Like to See (Bonus/Non-Essential)

  • Previous experience to Media/TV/Film/Entertainment clients

Package: £40,000-£45,000 + bonus

Working Pattern: 4 days in-office, 1 day work from home
