Aston Education is looking for a Head of Religious Studies for an Ofsted Good C of E 11-16 secondary school in Lambeth, South London.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious RS / RE Teacher looking to take on leadership responsibilities within a supportive environment.

 

The Head of RS / Head of REplays a key role in sustaining and promoting the Christian ethos, academic excellence, and inclusive culture of the school.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Religious Studies, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across key stages 3 and 4.
  • Lead a dedicated team.
  • Teach RS to KS3 and GCSE.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the school's Christian ethos and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate curriculum intent, implementation, and impact to secure excellent outcomes.
  • Promote student engagement and success through creative teaching, trips, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Strengthen links between the RS curriculum, local faith communities, and diocesan networks.
  • Support the delivery of collective worship and other faith-based events.
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

  • Relevant Degree and teaching qualification with QTS/QTLS
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Experience teaching RS to KS3 and GCSE
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and education systems
  • Effective time management and IT competence (Google Education Suite)
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and student success
