We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Highways Administrator to provide vital administrative support to the Highways team. The successful candidate will assist with a range of tasks related to the planning, coordination, and delivery of highway maintenance and improvement works. This is a key role to ensure the smooth operation of programmes and compliance with record-keeping, financial, and reporting procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day administrative support to engineers and project managers across the Highways team.
Maintain and update programme schedules, project trackers, and work records.
Process and raise purchase orders, track invoices, and support budget monitoring activities.
Assist with compiling reports, correspondence, and technical documentation.
Manage communication with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate information exchange.
Organise and schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes when required.
Support the coordination of statutory notices and permits related to highway works.
Maintain electronic and physical filing systems in line with internal policies and GDPR requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally within highways, construction, civil engineering, or local government.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
Competency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook); experience with finance or asset management systems (e.g., Confirm, SAP) is an advantage.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
