Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Highways Administrator to provide vital administrative support to the Highways team. The successful candidate will assist with a range of tasks related to the planning, coordination, and delivery of highway maintenance and improvement works. This is a key role to ensure the smooth operation of programmes and compliance with record-keeping, financial, and reporting procedures.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to engineers and project managers across the Highways team.

  • Maintain and update programme schedules, project trackers, and work records.

  • Process and raise purchase orders, track invoices, and support budget monitoring activities.

  • Assist with compiling reports, correspondence, and technical documentation.

  • Manage communication with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate information exchange.

  • Organise and schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes when required.

  • Support the coordination of statutory notices and permits related to highway works.

  • Maintain electronic and physical filing systems in line with internal policies and GDPR requirements.



Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally within highways, construction, civil engineering, or local government.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, solution-focused approach.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook); experience with finance or asset management systems (e.g., Confirm, SAP) is an advantage.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
