Location: Wandsworth, Hybrid - 2/3 days a week in office

Contract Length: Temporary assignment, 3 months (possibility of extension)

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 36 hours

Job Purpose: As a Housing Initiatives Officer, you will assist with the day-to-day administration of various policy schemes, particularly the Right to Buy (RTB) scheme. You will ensure scheme targets are met and manage sales-related matters, contributing to the continuous improvement of housing services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer various sales schemes, including Intermediate housing schemes.
  • Lead the implementation and administration of RTB.
  • Serve statutory RTB Notices within statutory turnaround times.
  • Check validity and process scheme applications in line with statutory processes.
  • Instruct the Council's valuation and legal services.
  • Manage RTB legal enquiries and contact external management companies for planned works and service charge information.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent data entry, adhering to data protection and confidentiality rules.
  • Provide weekly performance statistics to Senior Officers.
  • Monitor contractor performance and arrange inspections.
  • Prepare periodic reports and statistical returns for Officers, Members, and other bodies.
  • Act as the lead contact for RTB correspondence and enquiries.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with marketing programmes to promote housing initiatives, including attending events.
  • Address customer client issues and investigate member's enquiries, complaints, and FOIs.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge of Right to Buy scheme and low-cost housing initiatives.
  • Experience in managing workloads in a pressurised environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Competency in using computer databases and office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Ability to record and manage casework and data.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • GSCE level qualification or equivalent experience.
