Mixed Tax Manager - 70% Personal Tax, 30% Corporate Tax

Primary Responsibilities

  • To implement a plan to improve the profitability of the Tax Department
  • To review present processes procedures and recommend changes and when agreed implement
  • To prepare and when accepted, implement an annual budget for cost and revenue
  • To deliver all tax compliance work for Charterhouse clients
  • To deliver all advisory work for Charterhouse clients
  • To assist Finance with billing and the collection of debt
  • Effectively managing timesheet completion, review and work in progress (WIP) for all individuals within the department To deliver all enquiry work for Charterhouse clients
  • To bring to a conclusion HMRC enquiries for own portfolio or allocated work
  • To assist with delivery on tribunal and/or ADR (alternative dispute resolution) matters
  • To deliver project work To authorise CT and SA tax returns to be sent to clients
  • To assist client directors in providing tax advice to existing and potential new clients
  • To allocate and monitor work, to select, recruit, induct, appraise, train and develop your staff

Qualifications & Training - Essential

ATT/ACCA qualified and CTA qualified

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel

Desirable

Knowledge of CCH including the Tax software, Practice Management and Document Management

Knowledge of accounts

Knowledge of Xero

Experience

Managing a department / Tax compliance process.

Managing a team, involved in training and development of staff.

Managing a portfolio of clients and liaising with clients on advisory services.

Qualities and Attitude

Confident in managing and leading a team.

Ability to manage, coach and develop staff.

Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise workload for the department.

Effective communicator with all levels withing the firm (both written and verbal).

High level professional communication with clients is vital. Self-motivated individual.

Think strategically and act proactively.

Ability to work well as part of a team.

Ability to undertake more complex compliance work without any support.
