Job description

Overview
We are seeking a SEND teacher, who can come in and make an impact with KS1 or KS2 pupils, to join our pupil referral unit in Vauxhall. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their learning across the main curriculum, critical thinking, and a love for for creating fun learning.

There are various referral routes into the school. We provide a variety of short and long-term placements for students at Key Stage 1 and 2. We work in conjunction with the Local Authority and in partnership with local schools to ensure we are the right provision for referred students

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, tests, and class participation.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to encourage improvement and growth.
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.

The person

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students of varying abilities.
  • Previosu experience of working with challening behaviours.
  • A passion for literature and the ability to inspire students through creative teaching approaches.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in lesson planning and assessment.
