A forward-thinking sustainability consultancy is seeking a passionate and technically excellent Principal Whole Life Carbon Consultant to join their growing team. This is a leadership opportunity to drive forward impactful work on carbon reduction, guiding clients across real estate and development through the transition to net zero.
As a Principal, you'll lead on Whole Life Carbon assessments, embed low-carbon design principles, and provide strategic advice to clients. You'll also play a pivotal role in mentoring junior team members, developing service lines, and representing the consultancy externally as a thought leader in carbon management.
What you'll do
* Lead the delivery of Whole Life Carbon assessments and Embodied Carbon analysis on projects across multiple sectors.
* Use industry-standard tools such as OneClick LCA to calculate and report carbon impacts.
* Collaborate with design teams and clients to influence low-carbon strategies from early-stage concept design through delivery.
* Stay at the forefront of industry developments, including the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard and RICS methodologies.
* Mentor and support junior consultants, providing technical guidance and career development.
* Contribute to business development by supporting bids, proposals, and client presentations.
* Represent the consultancy at industry events, contributing to thought leadership and sector innovation.
About you
* Significant experience in Whole Life Carbon and Embodied Carbon consultancy.
* Strong knowledge of OneClick LCA (or similar carbon modelling tools).
* Familiarity with UK standards and best practice guidance (RICS, LETI, GLA, UKGBC).
* Confident communicator, able to influence design decisions and present to clients and stakeholders.
* Leadership skills, with prior experience mentoring or managing junior colleagues.
* Passionate about sustainability, carbon reduction, and driving the net zero agenda.
