About the Role

A Quantity Surveyor with experience in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems plays a key role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining quality and compliance. Their responsibilities include:

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting – Preparing detailed cost estimates for M&E systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection.
  • Procurement & Tendering – Sourcing suppliers, managing tenders, and negotiating contracts for M&E components.
  • Valuation & Cost Control – Monitoring project costs, assessing work progress, and ensuring M&E expenses align with budgets.
  • Risk & Compliance Management – Ensuring M&E installations comply with regulations, building standards, and health & safety requirements.
  • Project Coordination – Working closely with M&E engineers, contractors, and design teams to resolve cost-related issues and optimize value.

A Quantity Surveyor with M&E expertise is essential in sectors like commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects, where complex mechanical and electrical systems play a crucial role in building functionality.

About the Requirements

Membership of a professional body such as RICS, CIOB, or equivalent. Experience working on large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and digital measurement tools.

About the salary:

Salaries would be dependent on experience, but range between £45,000- £55,000.  Other Benefits will be discussed at the interview
