The pay rate on offer is 450 - 545 per day (via Umbrella agency - inside IR35).

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer with a strong focus on observability and performance monitoring using Dynatrace. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems by implementing best-in-class observability practices across our infrastructure and applications. Leveraging your expertise in cloud technologies and best practices, you will work closely with tenants to architect, implement, and optimise solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and deliver exceptional value to our customers.

Responsibilities

Observability & Monitoring: -

  • Design, implement, and maintain observability solutions using Dynatrace for full-stack monitoring (infrastructure, applications, services).
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, and automated reporting to provide actionable insights.
  • Continuously improve monitoring coverage and reduce blind spots across environments.

DevOps & Automation: -

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate deployment and configuration of monitoring agents and integrations.
  • Support infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform or Ansible.

Performance & Reliability: -

  • Analyse application and system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize resource usage.
  • Drive incident response and root cause analysis using Dynatrace data.
  • Implement Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for critical services.

Collaboration & Governance: -

  • Work closely with engineering teams to embed observability best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance on Dynatrace usage and observability principles.
  • Ensure compliance with security and operational standards.

Skills

  • Platform Engineering: Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, resilient, and secure cloud platforms.
  • Observability: Solid understanding of observability pillars and strong expertise in configuration, dashboards, alerting and integration for Enterprise monitoring tooling (eg Dynatrace, AppDynamics).
  • Automation: Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices, automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Ruby).
  • Container Orchestration: Knowledge of container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) and their managed counterparts (e.g., EKS, AKS, GKE).
  • Public Cloud Expertise: Understanding of cloud services, architecture, and best practices in one or more major public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • DevOps Practices: Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker).

Experience

  • Project Leadership: Demonstrated experience delivering cloud migration, optimisation, or transformation projects.
  • Client-Facing Experience: Proven track record of engaging with clients, understanding their requirements, and delivering solutions that exceed expectations.
