Position Overview:
This is a six-month interim role designed to provide cover whilst the service undertakes recruitment to fill permanent vacancies.
Role Summary:
The Senior Caseworker is responsible for the full spectrum of statutory casework relating to a designated caseload of approximately 200 children. Core responsibilities include the drafting and amendment of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), overseeing the annual review process, managing placement breakdowns and responding to change of placement requests. The postholder also presents cases to Local Authority panels and manages statutory phase transfers. The role requires regular and direct liaison with families and educational settings to ensure statutory compliance and the effective delivery of support.
Important Note:
Despite the designation of 'Senior', this post does not carry any supervisory or line management duties. The responsibilities and level of autonomy are broadly equivalent to those of an SEN Caseworker in the majority of Local Authorities.
