PURPOSE OF ROLE 

Lawes is partnering with a Lloyds Syndicate in their London office to recruit a Trainee Underwriting Assistant within the International Property team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Graduate or A-Level (or equivalent) candidate looking to start their career in insurance within an underwriting environment. The successful candidate will support the Underwriters with managing the book of risks and handling a variety of administrative duties. Full training and development will be provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for dealing with incoming calls and emails.
  • Assisting Underwriters
  • Entering and processing risk information
  • Allocating premiums
  • Analysing data and providing reports to Underwriters
  • Liaising with Underwriters and Brokers as needed 
  • Prepare and issue insurance documents such as evidence of cover
  • Data entry and general administrative duties
  • Ad-hoc duties as needed 

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS 

  • Educated to Degree level - preferred
  • Minimum of 3 A-Levels grades C or above (or equivalent)
  • An understanding of Insurance and a desire to continue to learn
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Strong IT skills including all MS Office
