Responsibilities
As a Handyperson, you will be responsible for a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to support the completion of building and refurbishment works. Your duties will include:
- Carrying out remedial and general repairs to building fabric following M&E installations
- Interpreting snagging reports and completing necessary finishing works
- Painting surfaces, pipework, and “boxing in” services
- Minor plastering, brickwork, and making good prior to decoration
- Basic pipework insulation tasks
- Keeping work areas clean and tidy upon completion
- Collecting/delivering materials as needed
- Removing waste from site in compliance with environmental guidelines
- Liaising with surveyors and updating progress with photographs and status reports
- Complying with company QA processes and health & safety regulations
- Maintaining accurate records and undertaking site visits across the service area
- Supporting other site duties as reasonably requested
Qualifications
Essential:
- City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade
- Asbestos Awareness certification
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative
- Practical knowledge of tools, materials, and site safety practices
- Experience working in occupied properties and/or with vulnerable individuals
Desirable:
- Experience in social housing, healthcare or public sector environments
- Basic IT skills for reporting and record-keeping
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship with attention to detail.
Salary / Package
- Salary: up to £38k
- Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)
- Holiday: 21 days annual leave, increasing by 1 day every 2 years (up to 25 days), plus statutory holidays
