An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join a global financial institution as Assistant Vice President - EMEA People Risk & Controls on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role sits within the HR function, focusing on strengthening governance, risk management, and control processes across the EMEA region.
You will work closely with key HR and risk stakeholders to ensure policies, procedures, and controls are effectively implemented and consistently followed. This is a critical role requiring a hands-on individual who can manage complex processes, support audit and regulatory requirements, and champion operational excellence in HR risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the effectiveness and consistency of HR controls and risk management processes
- Track and manage issue/action item resolution via internal risk systems (e.g., Open Pages)
- Compile and maintain governance documentation including Risk Assessment Forum packs and Job Description Working Group materials
- Manage the annual Job Description Attestation process, including conducting sample checks and escalating overdue items
- Perform sample checks on completed control testing within the HR department
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors, supporting issue resolution and tracking open items
- Contribute to the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Support the HR team in periods of change, offering risk and control guidance throughout
About You:
- Demonstrated experience in HR risk and control within financial services
- Background in HR processes and understanding of associated risks and mitigations
- Strong project coordination skills, with experience managing multiple stakeholders across EMEA
- Skilled in data interrogation and identifying risks, errors, or inconsistencies
- Proactive, adaptable, and structured in your approach to work
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities
