Health & Safety Advisor (Data Centre Construction)Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 + PackageLocation: Canning Town, London OverviewWe are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading construction company, for a site-based Health & Safety Advisor to oversee a £230 million project involving the design and construction of a new nine-storey data centre in London Docklands. This is a key role that will require strong organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a proactive approach to health and safety management. You will report to the Health and Safety Manager and Project/Contracts Manager, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and fostering a positive safety culture on-site. About The Role – What You’ll Be DoingAs a Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in managing health and safety activities, permitting, document management, and site audits. You will be responsible for implementing HSE strategies, fostering a positive safety culture, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.This project will be completed in a phased approach and includes:
  • Large diameter pile installation
  • Ground beam substructure and pile caps
  • Heavy structural steel frame (9 floors)
  • Composite cladding and outer rainscreen
  • Two precast concrete central core areas
  • MEP infrastructure and full fit-out of data halls on Level 1 & 2
  • Below-ground drainage and critical services infrastructure
  • External works, a Link Bridge to an existing campus north building, and a single-storey security gatehouse
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and monitor safe systems of work and best practices.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure site compliance.
  • Influence health & safety culture on-site.
  • Support risk mitigation efforts.
  • Ensure statutory compliance with health and safety regulations.
What You’ll Need
  • A third-level qualification in H&S or a related discipline.
  • Over 3 years of experience in large-scale commercial/construction projects.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • A conscientious, detail-oriented, and proactive approach.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Preferably, a full clean driver’s licence.
