We are looking for a passionate General Manager to join our friendly team in the heart of Mayfairat Hideaway, A casual eatery brought to you by the team behind HIDE. Located on Mount Street it has fast become a destination spot known for it's coffee selection & a café twist on HIDE's food hits.
Hideaway is a fast paced and exciting place to be. Our extensive food and drinks menu is constantly changing and evolving - paired with access to the finest ingredients and equipment this means there are always delicious things to be tasting and serving to our guests.
Our coffee menu usually consists of between 6-7 different espresso options exclusively sourced for us by Union Hand Roasted and Climpson and Sons which are prepared on a La Marzocco Linea PB, Mythos and EK43 grinders. We also offer batch brew, an extensive speciality tea menu and a seasonal signature drinks menu.
Bespoke training sessions are provided by both Union and Climpson and Sons plus training opportunities at our sister restaurant HIDE.
Confidence adhering to multiple espresso recipes and consistent latte art (hearts are fine and encouraged) in a fast paced environment and an interest in other aspects of the menu essential! There will ordinarily be two baristas on shift apart from a short period at opening and closing.

As General Manager, it is your remit to manage the daily operations of Hideaway. You liaise with the Director of Food & Beverage on a daily basis. As the most senior member of the team at Hideaway, you are expected to lead by example at all times. This includes interacting with guests, building relationships with guests and establishing new regulars. You will also pro-actively seek out new business opportunities and create a network within the local community. Part of this also includes encouraging and coaching your management team to do the same. You are also responsible for ensure that staff levels are appropriate to business levels through efficient and considered recruitment/rota management. Your role includes a pro-active attitude towards recruitment including ensuring that the relevant vacancies are advertised, CVs are vetted, candidates contacted and initial interviews/trial shifts are arranged. Following a successful initial interview/trial shift, it is your responsibility to schedule a final interview with the Director of Food & Beverage for any guest facing role, providing the relevant documentation such as CV, interview notes and any other relevant information. Your role also includes the training and development of your team. This includes ensuring that all levels are trained on their job role, as well as ensuring that there are progress plans and regular appraisals/performance reviews in place. Part of this is ensuring that SOPs and Food/Cocktail Bibles are up to date and relevant, regular training sessions are held and staff knowledge is regularly tested and followed up. This also includes ensuring that staff are inducted correctly, an induction training schedule and timetable is in place & followed and the ongoing monitoring of training programmes is respected. Furthermore, your role includes mentoring and training your management team to follow these procedures and processes. Your role as a Head of Department includes monitoring breakages and associated costs, taking a pro-active approach to minimising costs to the business through breakages and associated carelessness. You are responsible for controlling stock, conducting monthly stock-takes and weekly spot-checks on high value lines. You must monitor the maintenance and upkeep of Hideaway, reporting any required works to the Operations Manager in a timely manner. You also play an active role in licensing compliance and relationship management with Westminster Council.
Aside from an operational role, you also have a key creative input at Hideaway. You will work closely with the Director of Food & Beverage/Head of Coffee on seasonal drinks list changes, proposed special offerings and the cocktail and spirits offering. It is vital that you take an active role in monitoring sales and trends, with a view to fine tuning the wine list accordingly.

Successfully complete all opening and closing duties in a prompt and efficient manner during every shift and ensure that the venue is prepared in line with our guests requirements, ensuring standards are maintained throughout.
To ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained through the allocation of the duties and cleaning schedules.
To ensure that correct stocktaking systems and procedures are followed.
To co-ordinate your Management team in conducting monthly Inventory stock take and advise them of any shortages and purchasing needs.
To maintain and contribute to guests data base.
To maintain all equipment within your department and report any faults or breakages to the Operations Manager according to procedure. To practice the safe use and care of all items of equipment and to minimise wastage and breakages.
To be responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety within the department on a day to day basis. To ensure that all security policies and procedures are adhered to all accidents, hazards and repairs are reported immediately to the necessary person responsible.
To ensure a full understanding of the current Licensing Laws and Legal requirements regarding the serving of alcohol to the public.
To demonstrate promptness, anticipation, and organisation to deal with the different aspects of the position.
To maintain a high level of grooming and appearance at all times adhering to company guidelines, ensuring that your team follow the same standards
To accept other duties as required in order to ensure the efficient operation of the restaurant.
Attend and participate in any training and personnel development schemes as recommended by your manager.
