Veritas Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Elephant and Castle area, seeking a committed and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Reception with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a young learner and play a key role in their social, emotional, and educational development within a nurturing early years setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Reception-aged child with ASD throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team to implement individual learning strategies and behaviour plans.
  • Support the child's communication and engagement using ASD-appropriate tools and strategies, such as visual timetables, sensory support, and structured routines.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs, ideally in an early years or primary setting.
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young children.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with children and staff.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
