Position: A-Level Economics Tutor - Sixth Form College
Location: North London
Contract Type: Fixed-term for the academic year 2025-26
Working Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a dedicated and academically driven Economics graduate to join a high-performing Sixth Form College as an A-Level Economics Tutor. This is an ideal opportunity for someone considering a future in education and who wants to make a meaningful impact on motivated young learners.



About the Role

You will work closely with A-Level Economics students, offering one-to-one support, leading small group sessions, and assisting in lessons. You'll help students deepen their understanding of key economic theories, prepare for competitive university applications (including Oxbridge), and develop strong academic skills.

You'll also provide wider academic support through workshops on study techniques, time management, and independent learning strategies. Comprehensive training and mentoring are provided, with opportunities to observe and eventually lead teaching sessions. In the second year, there may be the option to pursue a formal teaching qualification.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide focused academic support in A-Level Economics

  • Promote effective study habits and independent learning

  • Support the development of written and analytical skills

  • Collaborate with staff to identify students who would benefit from extra support

  • Offer pastoral guidance and encourage academic resilience

  • Mentor students applying to top-tier universities

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training



Ideal Candidate

  • Recent graduate with a strong degree in Economics or a closely related subject

  • Excellent A-Level results, ideally including Economics and Maths

  • A strong interest in education, social mobility, and supporting young people

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build strong student rapport

  • Prior experience working with young people (preferred but not essential)

  • Positive, empathetic, and enthusiastic about helping others succeed
