As aSEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in providing 1:1 support to a student with additional learning requirements. This role is essential for helping the pupil thrive both academically and socially in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for a student with complex needs, including autism and behavioural challenges.
- Assist with personal care and hygiene routines as required.
- Implement tailored strategies from Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural support plans.
- Promote emotional regulation and positive social interactions within a structured learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support student progress.
- Use de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to manage behaviours effectively.
- Encourage engagement with the curriculum and active participation in classroom activities.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism and challenging behaviours, is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with pupils, staff, and families.
- Willingness and ability to support with personal care where necessary.
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and making a positive impact.
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or child development are an advantage but not essential.
