As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Your role will include assisting with the delivery of lessons, supporting students with their coursework and homework, and helping to build their confidence in a subject that many find challenging. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the delivery of Maths lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, supporting students with both individual and group work.
Provide targeted one-on-one support to students who may require additional help with their understanding of maths concepts.
Support classroom management, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
Assist in the creation and preparation of teaching materials and resources.
Help students with homework and revision by providing guidance and reinforcing key mathematical concepts.
Contribute to student assessments, identifying areas for improvement and offering support where necessary.
Monitor student progress, providing feedback to both the teacher and students to ensure continuous development.
Support students with SEN (Special Educational Needs) where necessary, adapting your approach to suit individual learning needs.
Develop professional relationships with students, fostering an environment of trust and support.
Engage in regular professional development opportunities and staff meetings, contributing to the school community.
Essential Criteria:
A degree in Mathematics or a related field (minimum 2:2).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and patiently.
A passion for education and working with young people.
Ability to build rapport with students and staff alike.
A proactive and enthusiastic approach to problem-solving and learning.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Some experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring (desirable but not essential).
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Previous experience as a teaching assistant or tutor, particularly in a secondary school environment.
A keen interest in developing as an educator and pursuing a teaching career.
