You will provide crucial 1:1 support to a specific pupil with social, emotional, and mental health needs within a mainstream primary setting. This is an immediate, long-term placement with a strong view to becoming a secured, permanent role.

You will collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other pastoral staff, assisting in the delivery of a tailored curriculum that encourages the pupil to develop coping strategies and achieve their academic potential.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support specifically aligned with the pupil's SEMH support plan, including managing anxiety, emotional regulation, and social communication.

  • Facilitate positive engagement in classroom activities, adapting tasks and resources to meet the pupil's individual pace and learning style.

  • Effectively implement positive reinforcement and established behaviour management strategies consistently.

  • Maintain clear, consistent communication and collaboration with the class teacher, SENCo, and parents/carers regarding the pupil's progress.



Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in supporting primary-aged children with needs relating to social, emotional, or mental health.

  • A calm, resilient, and proactive disposition when addressing challenging behaviours or emotional distress.

  • Familiarity with successful support methodologies for SEMH, such as emotional literacy, de-escalation, or trauma-informed practice.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for professional liaison within the school setting.
