SEMH Teaching Assistant

Remedy are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in one of our welcoming partner schools in Lewisham. This is a highly rewarding role for someone passionate about making a meaningful impact on young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support.

What you'll do as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Assist in implementing behaviour strategies and personalised support plans
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and a positive sense of wellbeing
  • Help pupils develop confidence, self-esteem, and coping strategies
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Create a calm, safe, and structured environment that supports learning and emotional growth
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviours

What we're looking for:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs (highly desirable)
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach at all times
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, flexible, and resilient attitude
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
