Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a nurturing, inclusive primary school in Lambeth, SE24, to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant who will work closely with pupils in EYFS and KS1 requiring additional support. This role focuses on providing both in-class and 1:1 assistance to help pupils with SEND make sustained academic and personal progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions tailored to specific learning needs (e.g., autism, speech & language, developmental delay)
  • Support pupils during lessons by breaking down tasks, clarifying instructions, and encouraging active engagement
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCo to review learning goals and adapt support strategies
  • Foster emotional wellbeing by offering encouragement, structure, and consistency throughout the day
  • Assist with implementing EHCP targets, collecting observations, and providing input into review meetings when required
  • Promote inclusive practice, helping all children feel part of the classroom and wider school community

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting (essential)
  • Knowledge of a range SEND profiles (e.g. ASC, SLCN, ADHD) and associated strategies
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff, and families
  • Resilient, nurturing, and patient, with a genuine commitment to improving pupil outcomes
  • Able to follow school safeguarding procedures and work collaboratively within a team
