Long Term Futures are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant to join their Specialist Inclusion Unit.
The school has a well-established provision within the mainstream setting designed to support students with ASD, SEMH and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo and inclusion leads to provide consistent, tailored support to students both in the unit and in mainstream classes.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about SEND and is confident working with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism, SEMH and behavioural needs
* Assist with reintegration and transitions between the inclusion unit and mainstream classes
* Support EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
* Encourage student engagement, focus and independence in lessons
* Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour through consistent routines
* Collaborate with the SEN and safeguarding teams to ensure student wellbeing
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting students with ASD, SEMH or behaviour challenges
* A calm, consistent and patient approach to support and de-escalation
* Understanding of inclusion strategies and behaviour intervention methods
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with staff and families
* Background in schools, PRU, youth work or care is desirable
