Long Term Futures are working with a well-resourced and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets to appoint a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex care needs from September 2025.
The school is a two-form entry primary setting, offering excellent SEND provision and a nurturing learning environment. This role is focused within the school's specialist support unit, working with pupils who have a range of needs including physical disabilities, medical needs, and personal care requirements. The successful candidate will provide both 1:1 and class-based support across the EYFS and KS1 age groups.
You'll be part of a collaborative SEND team that works closely with healthcare professionals, therapists and families to ensure consistent, high-quality care and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver 1:1 support for students with complex needs, including personal care (toileting, feeding, hygiene)
* Assist with mobility, positioning and sensory routines
* Use visual aids, structured timetables, and communication tools (PECS, Makaton, etc.)
* Support students in accessing both classroom and sensory-based learning
* Collaborate with the SENCo, class teachers and medical staff to implement EHCP targets
* Maintain dignity and emotional wellbeing in all aspects of care
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Previous experience working in a primary or special school setting
* Experience supporting students with complex medical or physical needs
* Confidence in providing personal care with sensitivity and professionalism
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, dignity in care, and inclusive practice
* Calm, patient and proactive approach
