We are currently recruiting an experienced and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and creative primary school in Walthamstow on a supply basis.

The Role

In this SEND Teaching Assistant role you will be supporting a Year 2 pupil with non-verbal autism who requires adult support to access activities in school.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting with phonics and early literacy development.
  • Delivering and engaging in sensory activities, including use of the school’s sensory room.
  • Encouraging outdoor play and structured learning opportunities.
  • Building a trusting relationship with the pupil, recognising that she may take time to settle with new adults.
  • Ensuring safety and well-being, particularly as the pupil is active and may attempt to run.

This role requires a confident, proactive individual with prior SEND experience who can offer patience, consistency, and creativity in their support.
