Full-Time Teacher of Sociology Required - Outstanding Tower Hamlets School (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 5 Essential)

Our Outstanding school in the vibrant and diverse borough of Tower Hamlets, London, seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of Sociology to join our thriving Social Sciences department and make a real difference to the sociological understanding and analytical skills of our students across Key Stage 4 and, crucially, Key Stage 5, commencing in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective Sociology lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of our students at both GCSE and A-Level, reflecting the social and cultural context of Tower Hamlets.
  • Fostering students' understanding of key sociological theories, concepts, and research methods, with a strong emphasis on the demands of the A-Level specification.
  • Encouraging critical thinking, analysis, and evaluation of sociological perspectives and real-world social issues.
  • Assessing and tracking student progress in Sociology across both key stages, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies, particularly for A-Level students.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the Sociology curriculum at both GCSE and A-Level, ensuring alignment with examination specifications.
  • Utilizing and contributing to the development of high-quality Sociology resources, including contemporary sociological research and debates relevant to the diverse student population of Tower Hamlets.
  • Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote social awareness and debate within the school community.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Social Sciences department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
