Empowering Learning are working with a 'Good' primary school based in Haringey, whom are looking for an expereinced Teachign Assistant to support a child in Year 1 who has additional needs, specialfially Autistic. The pupil is verbal, and high functioning, however with their diagnosis, the pupil requires additional learing support both in and outside of the classroom setting.

The school is a mainsttream, 3-form entry primary school fostering a creative and bright learning envrioment for thier pupils and staff. The school have heavily invested in their outdoor learning envrioment, providing further tailored learning support.

Job Description

The successful SEN teaching assistant will be required to provide 1:1 classroom support. As a special needs teaching assistant, you will also help to develop their social communication, interaction and interpretation skills and play an active role in developing their confidence, self-esteem and independence.

The ideal special needs teaching assistant will need to be committed to providing support to learners with a range of needs, be flexible in their approach and be able to work as part of a team.

Previous experience with SEND is a requirement. Understanding and experience of using Makaton, PECs and sensory approaches are advantageous but not essential.

This is a full-time, long-term role to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year (July 2025)

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Previous SEND experience is essential - specifically with Autism
  • Makaton and PECS experience - highly desirable but not essential
  • Dedicated and passionate about education
