Teaching Assistant

A 'Good' primary school based in Westminster are looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 4 pupil, who comes with an educational healthcare plan (EHCP) in place with the diagnosis of Autism. The pupil is verbal and high functioning with no behavioural challenges.

Job Description

The successful Teaching Assistant will be supporting in a year 4 class. The class consists of 28 pupils, with a class TA and a Teacher. Your role will develop their social communication, interaction and interpretation skills and play an active role in developing their confidence, self-esteem and independence as they navigate to year 5.

You will need to be committed to providing support, flexible in your approach and be able to work as part of a team.

Previous experience with SEND is a requirement. Understanding and experience of using Makaton, PECs and sensory approaches are advantageous but not essential.

This is a full-time, long-term role to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year (July 2025). The role also could extend into September.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Previous SEND experience is essential - specifically with Autism
  • Makaton and PECS experience - Desirable but not essential
  • Dedicated and passionate about education
