SEN Teaching Assistant - "The Lighthouse" SEN Unit, Primary School in Deptford (Outstanding Ofsted)
A wonderful primary school in Deptford with an Outstanding Ofsted rating is seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team within The Lighthouse, their specialist SEN provision. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is to support pupils with Autism (ASD), communication difficulties, and social-emotional needs in a nurturing and structured environment.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver tailored learning support, using communication tools such as PECS, visual timetables, and sensory-based learning. The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will be calm under pressure, proactive, and able to support children who may display challenging behaviour.
This SEN Teaching Assistant position is to start immediately on a long-term basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm.
Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant:
Experience supporting children with Autism or complex SEN needs
Confident using communication aids and implementing behaviour strategies
Passionate about supporting children's learning and emotional development
Must have a valid DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
Pay: 85-100 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)
