Teaching Assistant

Newham

A bustling and creative 2-from entry school in Newham is looking for a strong, resilient teaching assistant to join their wonderful school.

The role:

The role will be to support a boy in year 1 with Autism. The student is non-verbal and can display challenging behaviour.

As a teaching assistant, you will:

  • Providing 1:1 support to the student with Autism
  • Help to implement the child's Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Facilitate speech and language development
  • Work in collaboration with the class teacher and school SENCO to plan and implement activities and learning tasks
  • Assist the student with social interactions and building social skills

About you:

  • Will have experience supporting with Autism/special needs
  • Solid understanding of pre-verbal communication methods
  • Clear understanding of behaviour management techniques
  • Ability to take a "firm but fair" approach
  • Be kind, intuitive and be excited to make a positive impact on the life of a young child with Autism
