TeacherActive are working with a welcoming and forward-thinking Primary School in East London who are looking for an experienced Office & HR Manager to join their team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy school environment and enjoys leading a strong administrative team while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of school operations.

The Role:

As the Office & HR Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the school’s administrative and HR systems run efficiently and effectively. You’ll oversee a small team of administrators, support senior leaders with operational processes, and maintain a high standard of service across all areas of administration.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing administrative systems and staff.

  • Overseeing HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, and staff records.

  • Maintaining school databases (such as Arbor, Cashless, HR Access Selima).

  • Coordinating payroll data, absence management, and personnel documentation.

  • Supporting the Head of School and senior leadership with HR policies, staff performance, and compliance.

  • Ensuring a professional and welcoming front-of-house experience for all visitors and stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience working within a school office or HR setting (essential).

  • Strong knowledge of HR procedures and school administration systems.

  • Excellent organisation, communication, and people management skills.

  • The ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally.

  • Confidence in using systems such as Arbor or HR Access Selima (training can be provided).

  • A proactive, supportive approach with a focus on teamwork and efficiency.
