Sterling Williams are working alongside an FCA regulated electronic money institution (EMI) headquartered in London who are currently looking for an HR Manager to build and lead their global people strategy and HR operations from the ground up. You’ll be the first dedicated HR leader, working closely with leadership to shape the people strategy, operations, and culture. You’ll take on both strategic and hands-on responsibilities, guiding HR practices as the teams are scaled.

You will shape the people strategy at a high-growth fintech whilst partnering with a values-led leadership team in a culture-first business. This position will enjoy real impact and ownership.

Willingness to be office-based 3-4 days per week (more during onboarding phase)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and embed a people framework aligned with ambitious growth plans
  • Champion values and create initiatives that support a strong, inclusive culture
  • Support structural and cultural change as we scale globally
  • Lead core HR operations: onboarding, performance cycles, compensation, benefits, payroll, and compliance
  • Oversee and optimise day-to-day HR processes
  • Develop and maintain employee handbook and internal policies
  • Manage employee relations and coach managers through team and performance challenges
  • Support hiring across teams with structured, values-driven recruitment practices
  • Guide workforce planning and anticipate future talent needs
  • Drive key people projects (e.g. DEI, wellbeing, retention, learning)
  • Support international growth and the building of distributed teams
  • Prepare the organisation for changes in structure, headcount, or direction

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong HR generalist experience, ideally in a regulated Financial Services environment (fintech, wealth, investment, etc.)
  • Hands-on employee relations expertise
  • A builder mindset – you will enjoy creating, and improving systems, not just operating within them
  • High emotional intelligence and communication skills
  • Ability to influence and advise senior leaders
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving setting
  • Willingness to be office-based 3-4 days per week (more during onboarding phase)
