People Administrator – 18-Month FTC (Maternity Cover)

We are working with a leading Tier One contractor delivering some of the UK's most complex and vital infrastructure projects across sectors including energy, water, nuclear, highways, rail, and aviation. With a strong commitment to people, innovation, and operational excellence, they are now looking for a People Administrator to join their growing HR team on an 18-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

The Opportunity:

As People Administrator, you’ll play a pivotal role supporting the People Team and the wider business unit employees. You will be the first point of contact for general HR queries and provide comprehensive administrative support across the full employee lifecycle. This is a varied and fast-paced role ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, detail-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and sending documentation for offers, leavers, transfers, promotions, and contractual changes.

  • Maintaining accurate HR system records, including absence tracking and sick note monitoring.

  • Producing letters related to disciplinary, grievance, and redundancy processes.

  • Supporting fleet car list management and advising employees on vehicle availability.

  • General administrative support to ensure the smooth running of all People Team processes.

What You’ll Need:

  • Previous administrative experience within a busy HR function.

  • A solid understanding of HR practices and basic employment legislation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

  • Experience using HR systems (experience with iTrent is advantageous but not essential).

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work confidentially with sensitive information.
