Engineering Resource Manager

Brand new vacancy for an experienced Engineering Resource Manager to join a leading Insurance company in the UK.

Length: 11 months

Location: Hybrid - 2 days in London

IR35 status: Outside

The Software Engineering Resource Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective allocation and management of resources across the engineering teams.With a workforce comprising 370 Full-Time Employees (FTE) and 300+ supplier resources, the role aims to ensure consistent and efficient resource management by collaborating with over 30 Chapter Leads.This position is crucial in driving value for money, improving efficiency, and achieving the engineering department's efficiency target through optimized resource utilization and accurate allocation of time to change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish accurate resource baseline & tolerance. Then track manage & optimise.
  • Ensure accurate balance of run vs. SIP (Systems Integration and Project Management).
  • Define, Develop and implement forward planning strategies for engaging with suppliers.
  • Work closely with Chapter Leads to standardize and streamline resource management practices.
  • Address inconsistencies and inefficiencies in resource management across teams.
  • Manage the forward-looking profile of resource demand to meet engineering and project needs.
  • Ensure supply and demand are accurately reflected in PlanView (or other scheduling tools)
  • Establish a change control procedure, ensure that it is in place and actively used to assess the effect on Engineering caused by changes to timescales and/ or resource needs and report to management team.
  • Check that timesheets are entered on a weekly / monthly basis for validation of supply vs demand. Resolve any issues of inaccuracy when reports are run.
  • Understands the requirements and forecasts sufficiently to recommend relevant actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to allocate internal and external resources in a timely manner.
  • Ensure resources are available and allocated effectively to meet project deadlines and
  • Provide regular reports and insights on resource utilization and efficiency.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Tracking associated costs and identifying and implementing efficiencies
  • Monitor and control resource-related expenses within the allocated budget.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in resource management within a large organization.
  • Broad overview of the technology environment
  • Strong understanding of resource planning tools, such as PlanView.
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships and contracts.
