With regulatory transformation at the heart of its strategic agenda, the organisation is investing heavily in data to meet critical compliance objectives and enable better decision-making. This role sits within a maturing but fast-evolving data office, backed by strong executive sponsorship and significant investment in data capability.

Description

This is a pivotal role responsible for driving BCBS 239-aligned data governance initiatives across the Risk and Finance domains. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks aligned to BCBS 239, ensuring regulatory standards are met across Risk and Finance.

  • Own the lifecycle of key data outputs (KDOs), from identification and classification through to control, remediation, and ongoing monitoring.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with senior business and technology stakeholders to drive adoption of data standards, lineage, and control frameworks.

  • Support regulatory readiness, including ECB onboarding, through maturity assessments, gap analysis, and remediation planning.

  • Promote strong data quality practices, including root cause analysis and resolution of material data issues.

  • Provide thought leadership on data governance best practice and play a key role in shaping the overall data strategy.

  • Influence and educate senior stakeholders on the importance and value of data governance, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.

Profile

You will bring deep subject matter expertise in data governance within the financial services sector, ideally with experience leading or supporting BCBS 239 programmes. You should be:

  • Highly experienced in Risk and/or Finance data governance, including regulatory reporting and KDO frameworks.

  • Technically strong, with a clear understanding of data lineage, controls, and metadata management-ideally with hands-on experience using tools like Collibra.

  • Adept at operating at pace in a large, matrixed organisation and confident in engaging Managing Director and C-level stakeholders.

  • Able to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and challenge constructively where required.

  • Experienced in regulatory engagements, with ECB onboarding experience seen as a strong advantage.
